6 more weeks

so i don't have much time but here is what has been happening in washington.

  1. President & Sister Bowen leave the mission field President Weaver takes the reigns

  2. I am still in University Place my new companion is elder Abbott he is from Missori

  3. We are teaching some of the coolest people in the world

ok so there is alot more than just that but i don't have enough time to write it all i just wanted to let you guys know that i am doing great and that i am having so much fun. i know that this is the restored gospel of Jesus Christ i know that because of his sacrafice we are all able to live with our heavenly father again, and that one way to do that is by being baptized. i know that when we are baptized we are making a sacred covenant with our heavenly father and that when we come out of the water we are completly free of sin. i know these things are true i love you all so much.

New area, bikes, and a Russian????

ok ok so that is a crazy tittle or what? So here is what has been going on. I got transferred to Chambers Creek Ward, it is like north salt lake or if you aren't from Utah and don't know what north salt lake is like, it is "Rich". OK for example we are riding our bikes and a Maserati granturismo pulls up next to us at the light. Ok the bike part i am serving in a bike area it is good and it is bad. It is great because i get to work out all day everyday and by the end of the transfer i plan on looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger with the legs of Lance Armstrong and i forgot to mention that our apartment complex has a tanning bed so i will come out looking like the wolf boy from twilight with out all of the creepy full moon side affects. Russians my new companion came out with me from the mtc, he is from Moscow Russia. he is one of the coolest people ever, he has been showing me how to cook some of his traditional recipes which is way cool. The other day he made soup that was delicious it had cabbage and cauliflower and carrots. So that is what has been going on with me here in the great state of Washington, where it never stops raining, except for today so i have to go before the sun does. I love you all and i will try to get some more great stories for you all.

crazy people and their dogs

OK so after emailing on Monday we went out to knock some doors. About 6 houses in we came to one yard that had a long driveway and a gate in the front. There where no signs on the gate saying "private property" or "beware dog" or anything like that, so we whistled and saw that there was a dog in the persons house. Elder Owens and I opened the gate and closed it behind us, when we got about 20 feet inside the guys yard he opens the door and says "was my gate closed?" and then he says "you better start running" as he moves to the side and lets his 125 lbs pit bull dog out of the house. We run back to gate and somehow open it and get out just in the knick of time, as i shut the gate the dog slams into it growling and drooling. We managed to get the gate locked got out of there without getting hurt.
People are crazy that is all i have to say about this. i know that it was because we are protected as missionaries that we made it out of that yard without being hurt or getting bitten. So another story to add to my list of crazy things in the Wa-Tac.
i love you all so much.

Baptism

We had a baptism on Sunday and it was awesome. It was for Shannon Talbot she is married to a less active member and when we started teaching her she asked if her husband would be able to baptise her and so we got him to the bishop for an interview. It all worked out because he baptised his wife yesterday. They also have 3 kids and one of them is almost 8 so he will be able to be baptised soon too. This week has just been so much fun, after the baptism we went and played some games at the church with our zone as a p-day eve activity. I am loving the Wa-Tac and for the second time total on my mission the sun has come out for a full day. Today we had a picnic and then went and played some volleyball. Oh last week while i was emailing some guy came and sat down next to me and told me that he would join our church if there where no homosexuals in it. We exchanged info and on Thursday we took him on a church tour. He told us that he has already read the book of Mormon before but he didn't study it out. we where way excited when we found that out. we gave him a new one and asked him if he would start reading from the beginning. When he came to church on Sunday he was already reading in 2 Nephi chapter 18. I was shocked i expected him to be in 1 Nephi chapter 4 if that and he was so much farther, it is way exciting. I know that this church is true, and that Joseph smith is a prophet called of God. I know that President Thomas S. Monson leads and guides the church today for us. I know these things because i have read the book of Mormon and then gotten on my knees and asked if these things where true and i received my own personal witness that they are true. i love you all so much. The Spanaway Crazys

OK so the other day we decided that we would go and knock on some apartments that everyone calls the crazes. I thought that they where joking but it turns out that the apartment complex is a halfway house for people with mental disabilities and drug and alcohol problems. So we knocked it anyways if not to get anything but some cool stories. So the first door I knock the lady that answers the door had a full on beard it was gray and long it was so scary. I quickly picked up a stick and began to poke it while saying beeeaaarrrrddd. Just kidding but she seriously had a beard. She told us that she wasn't interested, so we started to walk away and while we where walking we could hear her muttering about how we where Russian spies and crazy stuff like that. Then the next door that we knocked on was this way cool guy named Chris. He told us that he used to have an addiction to alcohol but that he felt like he was needed for something so he decided that he would stop drinking. He likes to restore antique radios and music stuff, he has a Ham radio that uses tubes instead of chips so that when the 2012 thing happens and all electronics are wiped out he will still be able to use his radio. So the other day for General Conference we went over to his house to see if he wanted to come down to the church to watch Conference he said yes but he also told us that he just found out that he has cancer and probably won't live past the summer.(way sad) So we get to the stake center and we are watching conference when he leans over and just starts saying out loud as if he was talking to some one else who was there "stop it, make it stop, just stop it " it was way crazy. So it turned out that he is skitso and that he is crazy. We talked to our mission president, President Bowen and asked him if he could still be baptised because he is accountable over 99% of the time and he told us that we need to have Chris go see a doctor if there is one in the ward and ask the ward doctor what we could do to help him out. So yeah that is what we are going to do. So that is it, so far for the stories about the crazy people in Spanaway Washington I love you all so much Love, Elder Logan Hugh Mouritsen (Morty) Wa-Tac Forever
